Enjoying Tiger, Expecting Leopard

In case you didn’t know, I am typing this in Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8 on my Dell640m laptop.

I cannot praise enough about the comfort of using Mac OS X. Even though I use Windows most of the time, which naturally should be more user-friendly to me, I find Mac OS far superior in terms of both its design and simplicity.

It does not take a genius to find out that Mac OS is designed for PEOPLE. Windows programmers do not have users in mind nor do they predict users’ actions, on the contrary, they blame the user for not learning well how they should use a computer. On the other hand, Apple developers are more human-like. They see in their mind-eye what a user will intuitively react in a given situation and design their system accordingly.

Most settings in Mac OS are one-click job. Unlike in Windows, you are not required to go into deeper levels of each setting to get satisfied result. Believe me, Apple think the way you think. One click, and all are done. Oftentimes the system predicts your actions to save your time, for example, if you want to copy a file to another drive, just drag the file to the Disk Icon and the Disk or Folders will be opened for you. Folders and Programs are there for you if they are out of reach…

How about installing/uninstalling software? Just drag & drop. Done!

You need almost zero time to manage your system since the system core is better designed. The system is fast enough so you’ll never need to optimize it. The system is stable enough so that it rarely crashes. The system is simple enough so that your parents can learn how to use it in 5 minutes. It boots itself up faster than any version of Windows; there are no starting programs nor resource-costing system services. And did I mention you need no Anti-virus programs? Packaged in one piece, what is presented to you is the ART IN PROGRAMMING.

So this time, you walk into your computer, turn it on, wait for only half a minutes to see the beautiful wallpaper-changing desktop, and you start to do what you should do: surfing the web, chatting, writing, creating video/audio,  watching a movie, learning new info, reading an ebook, downloading, etc etc etc. Nothing distracts you so that you can focus more on what you are doing which consequently gives you better result in life. All the cleanness only adds to your performance.

Rarely can I sit down and write this long a passage in Windows; it makes a difference for today.

Whatever your taste is, you will find Mac OS X an INTUITIVE, CREATIVE, SMART, EASY-TO-USE, and even more PROFESSIONAL operating system. Stop complaining about Windows! Learn your lesson on a Mac!

Note: Windows is still the best choice of OS for the majorities. But if you regard yourself as being exceptionally creative, use a Mac! You will regret not having used it earlier.
